About 8Branches

Hi. My name is David Millard. I was 10 when I helped my grandfather and dad make wood shelves for my bedroom. From that time I have loved wooden things. I returned to the shop occasionally through the years as I earned my Ph.D. in political philosophy, taught at several colleges and climbed the corporate ladder. During a yearlong sabbatical in 2009 I decided to turn my love of wood and my concern for society and the environment into the venture that has become 8Branches. I take great joy in turning reclaimed, old and unusual pieces of wood into beautiful, custom art furniture and lights. The work reflects my belief that the objects and activities that fill our lives should be beautiful, and reflect our interest and care for each other and for the environment that supports us.
